TerraMax is a completely autonomous vehicle that will take on the 175-mile 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge course without a driver or remote control.
Vehicle Characteristics
- The platform is Oshkosh ’s Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement, originally designed as an off-road vehicle for the U.S. Marine Corp.
- Its 6x6 design with independent suspension, central tire inflation and high ground clearance will allow it to overcome obstacles in the course, such as rocks and crevasses. The truck can handle 60% grades and 30% side slopes.
As Oshkosh’s Team TerraMax goes through its design and testing phases in preparation for the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge, this page will be updated with our autonomous vehicle technologies.
